The Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award Committee is proud to announce that ROGER A. LESLIE, SR. has been selected as the recipient of the 11th Annual Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award.

This Award is presented annually to an individual who best exemplifies the Spirit of Hanover by voluntarily giving selflessly of their time, energy and talent to the Town and its citizens thus enriching our lives, fostering a true sense of community and inspiring us all to a higher level of service.

Roger is a lifelong resident of the Town and has an outstanding record of service to the community extending over fifty years. A small sample of his considerable efforts include his long-time service as a call fire-fighter for the Town; his service as Chairman of the Hackett’s Pond Dam Study Committee as well as involvement with the Hanover Historical Society; the Stetson House, where he has served on the Board of Directors and as an Overseer; the Hanover Council on Aging, where he has served as Chairman of the fundraising drive to assist with the purchase of additional furnishings, equipment and programs for the Senior Center; the Tri-Town Rotary, where Roger has held many offices and has twice been named as a Paul Harris Fellow; and 50 years of involvement with the Phoenix Masonic Lodge. Those who have attended a Hanover Day event or a Hanover Memorial Day Parade would be sure to have enjoyed the fruits of Roger’s considerable talents as they were treated to his restored antique fire engines including the 1919 Model T.
